Next we analyzed the results of each of the other games independently. We found that the peak average payout rate for blackjack occurred three days before the full moon, for craps three days after the full moon, for keno one day after the full moon, and for roulette one day before the full moon.

The odds that up to three of five casino games (i.e., slots, keno, and roulette) would independently show peak payout rates within one day of the full moon are just over two thousand to one. Thus, the results observed here held for both table games and slot machines. In addition, more sophisticated analyses beyond the scope of this book confirmed that not only were fluctuations in casino payouts consistent with a twenty-nine-day lunar cycle, but the payout rates were reliably predictable using mathematical models.43
